Dollar for Design on GiveBIG Day
Apr
4

You know it! We know it! It’s time to batten down your email inbox hatches against the storm of another city-wide fundraising campaign. GiveBIG is here again.

As we edge ever closer to our Ignite! fundraiser, we are delighted to share with you news of an exciting matching gift from our own Board of Directors. Between now and May 4, your gift of any amount will be matched dollar for dollar up to the amount of $3,600.

Make your 2022 Seattle Design Festival donation via our GiveBIG page. Your donation should not break the bank. Please give at a level only you are comfortable with, even if that level is a dollar. If each recipient of this email gave a dollar to SDF today, we would raise more than $3,000 on this day alone!

Give dollars for design today and you’ll be funding the work of emerging designers while connecting underserved individuals and communities with an opportunity to access and participate in the design process.

For those of you wishing to celebrate the work of SDF in person, please reserve your ticket to Ignite! today and join us on May 4 for a night of connection and celebration.

BLOX – Katerra

Seattle Design Festival Block Party, 2018 (above, left)

Children interact with BLOX, an interactive installation by the design build firm, Katerra, at the 2018 Seattle Design Festival Block Party. “What does trust mean to you?” The modular installation provides opportunities for people to engage and collectively create by writing or illustrating responses to the prompt on a block and placing it within the installation. Each addition contributes to a growing manifestation of the voices in our city.

Festival-goers interact with a PARK(ing) Day installation engaging passerby to collaborate on a community mural with environmental themes. Seattle PARK(ing) Day is an annual event held in conjunction with the Seattle Design Festival, encouraging residents, business, and community organizations to use their streets for creative placemaking and demonstration projects.

Transparent Trust – CJF Edmonds

Seattle Design Festival Block Party, 2018 (above, bottom right)

An installation at the 2018 Block Party, Transparent Trust explored the idea of trust through a simple yet visceral idea: Do people trust one another to donate money in a non-secure receptacle? All money raised via the installation over the course of the two-day street fair was donated to Low Income Housing Institute’s Tiny House Team to help build transitional emergency housing for those experiencing homelessness
