Strategic Festival Partner – Coyote Central
Jun
22

We are beyond excited to announce that we are working with Coyote Central, again this year! This strategic partner supports the Festival’s goal to empower communities to leverage design and engage youth in design thinking. This year Coyote Central will join us at the SDF Block Party on August 20 & 21 from 10a-7p with Bridging the Gap, a community conversation – conveyed in sculpture – that bridges people from all over the city.

The members of Coyote’s Youth Advisory Board created their Teen Resilience Project as a way for teens like them to begin healing from the pandemic, and give their community a chance to talk honestly with one another about mental health. The sculpture they designed is an archway, pieced together like a puzzle, with each piece holding thoughts, fears, hopes, and dreams drawn by teenagers from all around the Seattle area.

Advisor: Marijke Keyser
Youth Designers: Asha, Basho, Bayla, Berit, Kaeli, Lila, Luca, Luke, Martín, Nami, Quinn and Shilalat

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and donorsthe Seattle Design Festival was able to fund non-profit/student/individual Festival partners who engage youth in the design process, leverage co-design and improve the community engagement process, and inspire action with lasting impact.

The Festival core team awarded funds of up to $500 to an additional 13 funding awardees, whose proposals included:

• Co-designed proposals that connect to community
