You’ll also gain access to a strong professional network within Seattle’s design community and be part of a team that leaves a lasting mark on the city.

What Will You Do?

As a Planning Team Volunteer, your work will be varied and impactful. You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Develop the Call for Proposals Craft and shape the document that invites our community to participate in the festival. Your creativity and organizational skills will help outline the festival’s themes and set the stage for our August event.
• Connect with the Community As a key advocate for SDF, you’ll promote the Call for Proposals within the design community, building enthusiasm and ensuring diverse participation.
• Review and Select Submissions Work with the team to evaluate proposals from local creatives, selecting the programs and experiences that will make the festival memorable.
• Support Festival Partners After proposals are accepted, you’ll collaborate with partners to bring their ideas to life, from initial concepts to final presentations.
• Coordinate with Day-of Volunteers During the Festival, you’ll guide and support our day-of volunteers, ensuring that every element runs smoothly.
• Manage Budget and Resources Working within the budget provided by festival staff, you’ll help ensure wise allocation of resources.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking volunteers who are reliable, collaborative, and passionate about fostering creativity in the community. You don’t need to be a design professional to participate—all backgrounds and skill sets are welcome!

For those interested in a more active leadership role, our Chair positions require project management skills and a commitment to ensuring that we meet our Festival Goals. Chairs will oversee festival logistics, support and mentor the Planning Team, coordinate with staff, and serve as ambassadors for SDF, building valuable relationships citywide.
