Designing an Accessible and Inclusive Seattle Design Festival

Every one of us is engaged with design every day, even if we don’t realize it. Design impacts whether we feel safe in our neighborhood, how we choose to get to work, how hard or easy it is for us to access stores, services, and schools. Well-designed buildings and places and products and experiences uplift us, and they also make our lives easier and more productive. While the design is operating in our lives every day, many of us don’t have the tools or opportunity to participate in design processes or influence design outcomes. The Seattle Design Festival seeks to change that.

We are committed to an accessible and inclusive Festival. All proposals should consider accessibility holistically to create experiences where everyone feels welcome to participate. Please consider how you might engage participants with diverse abilities and experiences, including accommodations for language, color contrast, physical ability, and multiple sensory engagement.
