Create an Experiential Map of Pioneer Square With AIA Seattle Young Architects Forum

Pioneer Square is the longest-standing urban core in Seattle. What has pioneer square meant through the history of Seattle? What does it mean now and how can it lead us into the future? Not only are their historical patterns, social impacts and typologies to be explored, but also how Seattle views pioneer square. How can this area be a sounding ground for change for the rest of the city and other cities around these points: Increased mobility, focused intensity, pedestrian friendly, well-loved pub spaces and social vibrancy?

The Young Architects Forum will solicit from young designers through a design competition while offering a public forum for discussion. Young people come together to talk about what is needed for an ideal/workable city block within Pioneer Square, considering history, urban scale, livability and equity and sketch “experience maps” of Pioneer Square.
