Luminarium is a custom blown glass lighting installation that is controlled with body sensors to change the quality of light output according to stress responses and heart rate pulses. It is created by Julie Conway, founder of Illuminata Art Glass Design, and collaborators Alex Giorgio of Typee.com and SmarteArt and Chris D’Annunzio, electronics guru and programmer.
The goal of the installation shows effect of stress or negative or nervous behavior on one’s health and immediate environment. The collaboration is a modern day story of connectivity through the use of found materials, blown glass, steel, LEDs, microprocessors, and audio/visual biofeedback that nurtures community connections through design interaction.
Please come to the presentation to learn more about bio-sustainability of the body, light sources, glassmaking techniques, and net-zero building construction.
