The Poetic Operations Collaborative (POClab) presents Public Design Lab, a workshop hosted at the Institute for New Connotative Action (INCA).
The workshop will include a conversation between members of the POClab on our current design and art research projects. The projects include: #stronger, a project that imagines futures of health and strength for trans and gender non-conforming people through speculative app design and social media interventions; and Unstoppable, a collaboration started by micha cárdenas, Patrisse Cullors, Chris Head and Edxie Betts to create DIY bulletproof clothing designed with black trans women as the main audience, in solidarity with #blacklivesmatter. Attendees of this public design lab are invited to participate in the design process and offer feedback on these two projects.

Poetic Operations Collaborative (POC) is a design research lab using technological creativity towards social justice at the University of Washington Bothell. Our goal is to use human centered design principles to develop technologies that work towards a more just, sustainable and healthy future for all people.
Dr. micha cárdenas directs the Poetic Operations Collaborative, a design research lab at the University of Washington Bothell applying technological creativity to advance social justice. She is Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences and Interactive Media Design at University of Washington | Bothell. cárdenas is an artist/theorist who creates mobile media to reduce violence and increase health. Her solo and collaborative artworks have been presented in museums, galleries and biennials including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, ZKM in Karlrushe, Centro Cultural del Bosque in Mexico City, Centro Cultural de Tijuana, the Zero1 Biennial and the California Biennial.
