KAVE USA

“Drink & Walk Your Coffee” KAVE USA: Is “Design” a Puzzle, a Problem or a Place?
Panelists: Eva Klabalova, Designer/Founder of KAVE Czech Republic; Joseph Manson, Center Director Seward Park Audubon Center; David Francis, PhD Modern Poetry and Critical Theory, University of Washington, Seattle; Michael Bell of KAVE USA, author of featured poem “ESV” and brand statement “Drink & Walk Your Coffee”; Megan Arnaud, Eileen Fisher’s Renew resale program

How can a poem, a pair of shoes made of up-cycled materials and recycled coffee beans achieve a practical relevance, not only during the Seattle Design Festival Virtual Mainstage, but in the global discourse? Mark your calendars to come and hear a diverse set of professionals bring together their unique considerations about the broad and broadening canopy of “Design” in an interview/panel format to be moderated by Tyler Schaffer. With a live and partially recorded program we wonder aloud about aspects of “Design” in the manifold expressions of community. Does “Design” present us with merely the contemporary Puzzle? Or does “Design” when truly unhinged, allow the creations of Place? Or Does “Design” as we know it today serve as the ultimate utility for crafting the Problem for innovations in public interests?
Join us for a one hour with & 20 minute Question/Answering session as we consider an inquiry into the unique intersections that “Design” can grant a license to explore and re-imagine our connections via vastly different means.
