  • Perception Bias began as a conceptual study at University of Washington and evolved into an interactive art installation in which participants material bias are explored in a fun low stakes way.

The study engages critically on how cultural expectations play into bias and impact cross cultural interactions. The study aims to get participants to re-access their bias by breaking their cultural expectations of what a material can and can’t do (in this case stretch wrap). We hope that by introducing more expansive ways of thinking we can facilitate engagement with other biased aspects of society, such as cross cultural interactions. Engaging in this kind of openness could spur change and encourage a more expansive & balanced perspective of both material and culture.
