Presented by:
Discover Arts in the Park in partnership with Terra Nostra are happy to announce the upcoming free outdoor family-friendly community event Symphony for Climate Change on August 17th 2019 at the upper field of the Daybreak Star Center in Discovery Park. We invite the community to enjoy Arts in the Park and also to join a global effort to address climate change. Our purpose: to engage, educate, inspire, and empower our community towards policy change to protect our local environs and our planet. The event will feature Terra Nostra (“Our Earth”), an acclaimed multimedia symphonic creation featuring music, film and poetry about climate change by Seattle composer and conductor Christophe Chagnard, and the dance piece EarthQuake by the Khambatta Dance Company. We will also invite local artists, scientists and activists to engage the community in discourse and motivate people to see what practical steps they can take in their own lives and communities. The event will be funded in part by a Neighborhood Matching Fund award from Seattle Department of Neighborhoods. Discover Arts in the Park and Terra Nostra seek to involve a broad cross section of the community, and to appeal to people interested in music, arts, dance, the environment, climate change and current affairs.
