  • AIA Seattle Committee on Homelessness

  • In 2015, King County and the city of Seattle government declared a housing affordability crisis and a homelessness state of emergency. Despite these proclamations, the number of people living without secure housing continues to grow and the region currently has the third-largest concentration of homeless individuals in the country. Homelessness and the right to affordable housing are hot button issues, with supporters and detractors. “To House” reframes this controversial conversation by debunking common myths about individuals experiencing homelessness, with the goal of moving people to take action. “To House” provides visitors with a range of ways to move on this issue, from small acts of kindness to political involvement.

The exhibit content was developed in collaboration with the Real Change News, a popular street newspaper providing employment for low-income individuals and people experiencing homelessness.
