“We continue to imagine what this community can, and will, be”—K. Wyking Garrett
Thank you friends and donors for passionately believing in our work and giving generously. Together we raised $27,000 to elevate Design in Public’s mission to celebrate all the ways that design makes life better for Seattle.
Special thanks to Wyking Garrett of Africatown Community Land Trust for delivering an inspiring Keynote on the power of participatory design in creating a Seattle that represents everyone. In the closing words of Past President Stephen Jablonsky, “We’re not London; we’re not Tokyo; we’re uniquely Seattle.” As we look forward to all of the exciting expanded programming we have for 2018, we see reflected in this community our vision of a Seattle where community members, designers and leaders work together to create their shared best city.
Thank you also to Sarah Kaye for the ceramic centerpieces and to Elizabeth Anne Studios for the photography. Click here to view more photos from this event.
Look forward to continued collaboration between Design in Public and Africatown in our new upcoming Design Town Hall series launching July 13-14, 2018.
