At this time where latinx people are often in essential fields such as construction and agriculture, we are also targeted by authorities and excluded from design professions and education. Latinx in Architecture is an emerging AIA Seattle committee that establishes a gathering place for Latin American designers, educators, students, artisans, tradespeople, and our communities. Connected by Latinx heritage and commitment to the built environment, members will have the opportunity to express themselves, support and inspire each other, and consider design issues that shape our experiences.
This structure will tell the story of Latinx placemaking in Seattle- from agriculture and landscape, to heavy industry, to crafts and architecture through traditional Latinx crafts reimagined with found objects to be inclusive and inviting for all members of our community. Our hope is that people learn about Latinx culture, connect to the installation, and have fun.\
Latinx en Arquitectura establece un lugar de encuentro para diseñadores, educadores, estudiantes, artesanos, comerciantes y nuestras comunidades latinoamericanos. Conectados por la herencia Latinx y el compromiso con el entorno construido, los miembros tendrán la oportunidad de expresarse, apoyarse e inspirarse mutuamente y considerar los problemas de diseño que dan forma a nuestras experiencias.
Esta estructura contará la historia de la creación de lugares latines en Seattle- de la agricultura y el paisaje, la industria pesada, la artesanía y la arquitectura a través de las artesanías Latinx tradicionales reinventadas con objetos encontrados para ser inclusivas y atractivas para todos los miembros de nuestra comunidad. Nuestra esperanza es que las personas aprendan sobre la cultura Latinx, se conecten a la instalación y se diviertan.
