Drop by and check out Designing Motherhood: Things That Make and Break Our Births, join a tour, participate in take-action activities, and enjoy beverages, bites, and connection with one another!

Visit Designing Motherhood: Things That Make and Break Our Births – a special exhibition that explores the arc of human reproduction through the lens of art and design. This exhibition brings together contemporary artists and designers to examine the evolution of rights and societal norms connected to contraception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences over the last 150 years. Featuring over 200 objects, Designing Motherhood shows how birth—and the culture that surrounds it—impacts every living person.

Spark your CURIOSITY at the second of our Seattle Design Festival Mixers, a new feature of the festival this year.

Event is free, registration is required.

Transportation + Parking:
You can reach the Discovery Center on Metro Buses 3 and 4, and via the Seattle Center Monorail. Pay lots are in the surrounding area and parking fees vary. The nearest parking lot available is the Seattle Center Fifth Avenue Garage. The garage and Discovery Center are both wheelchair accessible.

Masking:
Masks are not required, but the Gates Foundation Discovery Center supports visitors who choose to wear a mask while in our space. SDF strongly encourages masking when you are not actively eating or drinking, as a demonstration of community care.
