The Seattle Design Festival is a platform for bold design conversations. We believe that design is for everyone and that inclusive co-design practices are essential to shaping an equitable Seattle. We are multidisciplinary, socially engaged and civic minded.
In collaboration with Seattle’s Office of Planning and Community Development, “In My Own Words” is an interactive installation that invites you to share your hopes for the future of South Lake Union. Step into a sculptural phone booth, pick up the receiver, and speak your dreams aloud—in any language that feels right to you. You can also listen to your neighbors’ visions for the future, along with recorded oral histories of the area. Together, these voices and stories will shape a collective vision for how South Lake Union can grow in ways that honor and reflect the many cultures, languages, and perspectives that make the neighborhood unique.
