The Seattle Design Festival is a platform for bold design conversations. We believe that design is for everyone and that inclusive co-design practices are essential to shaping an equitable Seattle. We are multidisciplinary, socially engaged and civic minded.
This pavilion explores being present in place and celebrates physical feedback of the built environment to the senses. As we move farther from analog interaction across all parts of life, the proposed pavilion aims to connect the visitor to their immediate surroundings via sensory experiences. Through a series of playful actions, the construction kinetically responds to the actions of the visitor. Icons of joy such as flags, kites, and sails, react to this activity and provide direct sensory FEEDBACK to the visitor. Shifting light and shadow, changing perspectives, and fluttering sounds render the invisible phenomena visible. Each response is a reflection of physical presence, an echo that reminds us how our actions change the world and those around us.
