The Seattle Design Festival is a platform for bold design conversations. We believe that design is for everyone and that inclusive co-design practices are essential to shaping an equitable Seattle. We are multidisciplinary, socially engaged and civic minded.
This interactive installation captures the essence of how a single idea or action can reverberate outward, sparking larger reaction and lasting social impacts. Ripple of Change serves as a physical metaphor for collective agency and communal responsibility, inviting the public to participate in both literal and symbolic acts of transformation.
The installation is composed of curved walls constructed with wooden frames. Within the frames, tactile spinning panels are mounted on rods, allowing them to rotate on their vertical axis. Selected panels will be aligned so that the movement of one can initiate a kinetic chain reaction. Each panel contains a thought-provoking question or statement tied to themes of sustainability, circularity and community wellbeing. Over the festival’s duration, the installation becomes a living document of collective insight, emphasizing the role of the community as a catalyst for a better and more sustainable future. This presents a reflection of circular design in physical structure and concept.
