A Habit of Looking Up

August 15 - 16 | 10am-7pm

A Habit of Looking Up is a wind-responsive public installation of light, color, and pause. Set within Lake Union Park, the installation invites visitors to step beneath a suspended field of translucent fabric tubes that shift from frosted blue to warm coral. As the wind moves through the structure, the hanging elements gently drift, filter sunlight, and cast soft colored shadows across the space below. Visitors are welcome to walk through, sit, rest, or lie beneath the installation and look upward. The experience transforms invisible forces—wind, light, movement, and time—into something visitors can see and feel.

Designed as a temporary but reusable structure, A Habit of Looking Up offers a quiet moment within the Festival to slow down, notice change, and experience the city from a new perspective.
