Save My Seat!

August 16 | 3:30pm-5pm

What if repairing furniture could help repair our relationship to waste, community, and care?

“Save My Seat” is a hands-on furniture repair skill share where Festival-goers can learn basic wood furniture restoration techniques while exploring climate action, circular design, and community resilience. Participants will help clean, refinish, and restore furniture pieces that will later be donated to people experiencing furniture poverty. The experience includes guided repair activities, a cross-section couch installation exploring furniture design and repairability, and conversations about reuse, planned obsolescence, and designing for longevity.

Volunteers will engage with visitors in English, Russian, French, and Spanish. This family-friendly outdoor activity is open to all skill levels. Materials, protective equipment (PPE), stools, brushes, paints, varnishes, and supervised instruction will be provided to support safe participation.
