SLIME[lapse] is an interactive pop-up installation that encourages festivalgoers to contribute to a communal slime sculpture. Participants will place a ball of slime on the mesh plane and watch as it slowly passes through the small voids.
SLIME[lapse] is also a contemplative installation where participants now watch the slime gradually form stalactite-like strands of color that twist and dance in the breeze. Participants are encouraged to embrace the relative stillness of the installation and enjoy a moment of calm as they watch slime stretch and collide in unpredictable ways.
During the festival, the slime will layer upon itself and pool at the bottom of the frame creating a puddle of color, punctuated by diminishing stalagmites from the descending strands of slime. Over the course of the weekend, the piece will remain in flux and gradually evolve, as each person adds their slime to the communal sculpture of slime.
This Pop-Up is designed to be accessible and sensory friendly to all users and can be comfortably and contemplatively observed in the round.
