Traces is a video portrait that records everyone who looks at it, creating an ever-changing digital collage.
“Traces” tackles the theme of IN[FLUX] head on by collecting an ever-changing video collage of everyone who ever encounters this portrait. It demonstrates how our behaviors can be captured, analyzed, and used for artistic work. This work shows how the traditional design of a portrait can be hacked to display video artwork: inhabiting a traditional-looking space that is actually an open system for future software design.
