Put down your phone and remember what it’s like to flirt in public.
Flirting is an inherently ambiguous form of communication that requires tension and play to make feelings known and gauge the feelings of another. Western design traditionally creates objects; what we aim to explore in this project is how to embed in form the nature of relational interaction.
How do we inhabit the ability to respond to advances in a variety of ways, approaching, toeing, or retreating from lines of distance and closeness? And how can an object be self-possessed, with a dynamic presentation and identity that establishes real presence and autonomy in its own right?
