The Seattle Design Festival Block Party is a two-day street fair celebrating the powerful ways design affects our lives. This fun outdoor event is an opportunity for the design community and the public to come together and interact through large-scale design installations, performances, and design activities all centered around the Festival’s 2021 theme, EMERGE.

New this year is a festival curated lounge space that will feature rotating hands-on activities and performances. The Pop-Up Zone will include a Block Party Lounge designed by Mithun in collaboration with the local non-profit Sawhorse Revolution. The table and seating in the Pop-Up Experience Area have been designed to be welcoming to members of the design community, and the community at large. All elements of the installation will have a permanent home with community partners following the Festival; The table will be used by students at Sawhorse Revolution as they learn to tackle social injustice and better their communities with carpentry and design skills. We invite you to use this lounge to sit and engage with each other, and to consider these voices and the many others that are often left out of conversations around the design of our built environment.
